The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation Affairs confirmed that two Afghan nationals who had been incarcerated in an Iraqi prison were released yesterday and repatriated to Afghanistan.

According to the ministry, as reported by the Border Directorate of Nimroz Province, these individuals were apprehended by Iraqi authorities four months ago while attempting to unlawfully enter Iraq via Iran.

These Afghans had served a three-month sentence in a prison located in the Iraqi city of Basra.

Additionally, it is of significance to mention that, with the assistance of the Islamic Emirate, twelve Afghan citizens were also liberated from various prisons in Sindh province, Pakistan, earlier today and safely returned to Afghanistan.
