Pakistani authorities announced on Wednesday that an explosion took place on a military school bus in the Khuzdar district of Balochistan province, resulting in the tragic deaths of four children and injuring 38 others.

The assailant reportedly attached explosives to his body and targeted the school bus in this devastating attack.

Yasir Iqbal, an official from Khuzdar, verified the incident to Al Jazeera, specifying that the bus was affiliated with the Army Public School.

The event transpired in the morning while the bus was en route to transport students to their school.

According to reports from Reuters news agency, which referenced statements from the Pakistani military and the prime minister, individuals supported by India were allegedly involved in the attack.

Al Jazeera also noted in a published report that the explosion was of significant magnitude and warned that the number of casualties might escalate.
