Old Rocket shell explosion in Nangarhar kills and injures four children
Sayed Tayyeb Hammad, the spokesperson for the Nangarhar Police Chief, informed Radio Hurriyat about a tragic event that unfolded in Lamtak village within the Daranur district of the province. The incident resulted from the detonation of an aged shell, leading to the demise of two children and the injury of two others.
Hammad elaborated that the occurrence transpired as the children recklessly interacted with an antiquated rocket shell, striking it with an axe while playing inside their residence, triggering its explosion.
Following the event, the Daranur Police Chief and additional security personnel promptly arrived at the scene, and the wounded individuals were promptly transported to the local hospital, where their conditions are reported to be stable.
It is crucial to highlight that the remote regions of Afghanistan remain perilously laden with the risk of unexploded ordnance. Government officials have consistently urged citizens to promptly notify security agencies upon encountering such hazardous remnants.
