Qatar asserts its right to respond to Iran
After Iran targeted the US military base in Qatar, Qatar has pledged to retaliate. Iran asserts that its strike on the Al-Udeid military base was conducted under Article 51 of the United Nations.
In contrast, Qatar stated in a missive to the Security Council that Iran had flagrantly violated its sovereignty and that Qatar reserves the right to respond.
In response to Qatar's communication, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaie emphasized that Iran's defensive action was not directed at Qatar, stressing Iran's commitment to maintaining historical and positive relations with Qatar.
Baqaie further mentioned that the Iranian government is thwarting US-backed policies that are contributing to the deterioration of relations between Iran and its neighboring and regional counterparts.
Overall, there is a belief that Israel and the US are aiming to incite conflict among Islamic nations to bolster their influence and further fragment the Muslim community.
