Three-Day Seminar for Advancing Government Newspapers, Languages commences in Kabul
A three-day seminar commenced today in Kabul with the aim of promoting the development of the country's newspapers and languages.
During this seminar, participants will discuss the background, progress, and potential solutions to existing challenges faced by the country's newspapers. The objective is to explore ways to enhance the development of these newspapers and encourage wider readership.
Writers from various provinces across the country have gathered at this seminar to brainstorm ideas for improving the current state of newspapers in Afghanistan.
Mawlawi Ibrahim Nabil, the head of state newspapers at the Ministry of Education, Culture, highlighted that there are currently four government newspapers in Kabul: Anis, Hewad, Shariat, and Kabul Times and some provinces have one newspaper, while others have two.
Mawlawi Ibrahim Nabil further mentioned, "Four government newspapers, namely Anis, Shariat, Hadah, and Kabul Times, are printed and published by our department in Kabul, and each province has its own newspaper. However, some provinces have two newspapers."
Mr. Nabil explained that these four newspapers in Kabul are printed in 1,000 copies each day and distributed to various agencies and markets. Previously, during the rule of the Islamic Emirate, only 700 copies were printed daily.
During the ceremony, Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi, the Deputy Minister of Arts and Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Information and Culture, emphasized the importance of professional journalism and effective writing in sustaining the growth of these newspapers. He further highlighted the need to prioritize scientific, technical, and professional practices to ensure the newspapers' continued development.
The seminar has attracted officials from newspapers and magazines across various provinces, including Kabul. The event, spanning three days, aims to find solutions for advancing government newspapers in Afghanistan.
